Of course, there's a good share of high valued auto's, but there also seems to be a good share of low-end auto's. With my luck, I usually pull the low-end auto's that book around $15-20. There's others that book over $150, though. It's usually the auto's like Nolan Ryan that book for that much. Compare his auto's to some of the other great players from then, and you'll notice that the Ryan is usually higher in value. Carlton Fisk's auto from the 2004 Topps Original Signature set is only at $40-60, while his rookie alone is worth $50. It just doesn't make much sense. Maybe it's the fact that too many auto's are being produced in certain sets. I do think, though, that auto's should be worth more, even if it's a minor player. I think auto's should be less produced, so they can go up more in value. Besides, the odds of pulling auto's are hard to come by unless you buy hobby boxes. What's the fun in pulling an auto if it's only gonna be worth $15-20? Was the odds really worth the pull? I definitely think that auto's should be worth more with the odds of pulling one. What are your thoughts?
Thanks, Collector

The only auto I've pulled in a pack, books for about $5. Jason Botts 06 Topps autograph. Then again, that was from a blister pack, not a hobby box

Auto's are priced too low on value. I think they need to be worth more, especially with the odds of pulling one. Thanks, Collector

On the other hand, I love to collect autos, but never can because they go for so much sometimes. The main player I collect is Ryne Sandberg, and his auto's usually go for a good price, which I can't afford.

However, if you collect current minor star auto's, then you could end up having a future "Hall Of Famer." You never know when those minor stars could become good. If that happens, you can turn around and say that you have their auto. To tell you the truth, Jason Botts isn't all that bad. He's not the best in the game, but I have seen him hit some home runs. If he gets a home run streak going, that auto of yours could go up in value. Thanks, Collector

Ryno is my all time favorite player. I want to get as many autographs of his as possible. Of course, I'm not into the auto's for the value of them, but because they are fun to hunt down and look for, and they look cool. Not to mention they are something more personal than just a regular card. Not to say that I don't want valuable auto's, of course I do, that just isn't my main goal

Yeah, everyone wants the valuable auto's, but overall, I also like the look of them.

Yeah, forgot to mention that too. I do like the looks of autographs. No two (authentic) are identical

Personaly I dont mind pulling any auto at all as long as it is someone I collect LOL I dont realy look at the value same goes for the GU cards ;D If you start to worry about the value of the cards you are pulling I think that you might well be loosing site of the fun involved in ripping packs and doing it puerley as a comercial excercise. This is just my opinion. De Orc

I think auto's should be worth more .... It's the guy's "John Henry" you got on the card. It's nice to pull a $25+ card .... but the little guy is fun to collect also.
Low end or higher end ..... I just like to collect them.

Offcourse, that's sucks whe you buy a box and then you got 2 autoas and both BV is about $15-$20 and then you got some RC and that BV is about $40....and they have to produce less autos IMO

That would just make them harder to come by, and someone with a smaller budget like me wouldn't be able to afford any auto's then

I hear everyone saying produce less auto's. But by doing that you limit who can afford them. Not to mention with less in packs the harder the pull. So no more one auto per box! Best auto I pulled was a Papelbon topps 2 auto bv $80. But everyone seems to be looking at this from the greed aspect which disturbs me. What would you rather pull an auto $15-20 or all base? I think the topic should read do you believe beckett puts lesser value in auto's then there is?? Everyone wants to pull the great white shark if they buy a box (especially for prices of boxes) but that just can't be the case. If it were the boxes would be so far outta reach for common collectors who would care? Case in point who has bought a box of exquiste or sterling? Not I, but I'm not paying $150-300 a box for 5 cards! Just wait a few years for the next phase of collecting. What will be the chase card? It went from inserts, to game used now the biggie is Cut auto's. You ever notice on packs they sometimes tell you the ratio per pull of auto's or whatever in the print run? Who knows math and ever sat down and figured out just how many boxes of cards were made??? If an auto comes out of a 1:2500 pulls that is 1 in 1000 boxes (give or take)!!!!!!!!! Now if theres 50 of those auto's that means at least 50,000 boxes were made! So thats more than 1 million packs made! Also i watch ebay trends where in the world do you think the best box pulls come from??? Anyone? ASIA!!! Thats right all the best boxes are shipped overseas! Someone explain that to me! OK enough of ranting!

I said they book too high... what about the caddy rookie auto last year that was worth about 2,500 or the bush auto patch that sold for 750$ in about 10 minutes some of these cards are worth too much money way too much.
